The blog's been a bit dead lately, but we swear we've busy. That's not much of an excuse, but we promise we'll try harder. Here's a quick rundown of what's been happening and what's to come:
We're looking to finally record some of our newer songs as well as redo some oldies. They'll be put out on a free sampler cd and hopefully will be ready for our July shows. It will have some ridiculously cool artwork and be released in very limited supply. Get excited.
We've picked up a couple of extra gigs meaning July will be even more massive than it was already going to be. On the 7th we'll be at The Abercrombie in some sort of festival. We actually don't know too much about it yet, but you can head here for details. We'll also be playing a show with Soft Tigers on the 24th which is guarenteed to be a heap of fun.
In other news, Mercy Arms have been added to our Newcastle gig, making it even bigger. It would also seem like our band comp quarter final has been moved to the following Friday, on August 3rd, but we'll clarify that soon.
We also shot a few band photos which you may see popping up here or there. They were done in dirty old Granville in the freezing cold, but actually turned out alright. We're using them for some posters which we're hoping to put around the place. Look out for them!
We'll have more details as they come in. Stay tuned.

Sound Emissions
For those FBI listeners out there (and that should be all of you), you may have heard about a promo disc they're giving away to supporters called Sound Emissions. It's full of great Sydney bands including Dappled Cities, Belles Will Ring and, lucky us, The Small Hours!
The only way you can get your hands on this CD is by signing up to become a supporter, so you better get your act together. You also go into the running for all sorts of massive prizes, but these all pale in comparison to the coolness of this CD. You have until June 22 to cash in, so don't miss out!
Many thanks to FBI!

The setlist was:

Arks
Another Girl
As Good As Graveyard
Episode 2
So just comment the names of the songs you'd like to see and i'll post a few later this week.
Mark.

Spectrum Shenanigans
The gig at Spectrum last night went good by all accounts. It was great to finally play on a night when ordinary people leave their house. Nothing like reaching out to that mainstream audience. Next stop, The O.C. Thanks to everyone who came, the crowd was plentiful which is always good.
Everything seemed to go according to plan, which is a miracle, considering how temperamental the little keyboard can be (it gets upset and turns itself off if you don't treat it just right). We tried a spacey version of Another Girl, which was good fun, but expect to see it evolve even further as time progresses. It will make Darwin himself proud.
Cloud Control were great as always. We even managed to score ourselves a couple of ultra exclusive Cloud Control bags, so look out for us walking around, oozing indie cred. Hopefully we get to play with those guys again some time in the (near) future. Look out for some photos (and maybe videos!) from the night, coming soon
Other than that, I guess we'll see you at the Hopetoun on the 13th! Or 14th.....sometime around then...

Saturday Night Entertainment
If anyone out there is wondering what to do with their staurday night, wonder no more. The Small Hours are playing at Spectrum and it's the ONLY respectable way to pass your time. We hardly know what to do with ourselves. Not only is it a WEEKEND, but it's also at a DECENT VENUE. That's enough capital letters to blow anybody away. Don't just bring yourself. Bring every human being within reach. The night surely promises to be huge.
Headlining the night are the fantastic Cloud Control who will no doubt have the entire audience swooning in unison. Also playing on the night are Hand Me My Jetpack, who look VERY exciting. But not only do you get treated to three bands, your entry entitles you to all the Spectrum after-party benfits. In other words, you get to get pissed and dance like idiots downstairs. We can hardly wait.
Doors open 8 but make sure you're there before 8.30 so you don't miss a minute of our set. For those who do make it early, we have a special treat for you. You get to hear our brand new composition which we have practised for a grand total of 30 minutes. Should be great! See you there!
