Band Comp + More = Blog Post

Believe it or not, but we forked out the $50 needed to enter ourselves in the University of Sydney Band Comp. With three quarters of us attending there, and us being band, we figured it would be appropriate. Our first heat takes place at Manning Bar on May 28 (Monday, Week 12) and it would be great if everyone could come along. First band starts at 6.30 and the order is a mystery so make sure you get there early. 10% of our score actually comes from audience response so don't forget to bring your whistles and scantily clad women.

For all you Sydney Uni people out there, you have no excuse not to come. Just hang around after your last class. We have an ACCESS card between us and as far we're concerned, that means 30 cent savings for everyone. For the outsiders, we will understand if you don't come, but we'll love you if you do. In fact, if you make the effort, just for us, let us know and we will each give you a high 5. Wait, make that 10! With all these incentives and more, you'd be crazy to miss out.

Keeping with the band comp theme, we'll also be playing a show with last year's deserving winners, Cloud Control, at Spectrum on June 2nd (yes, a Saturday for once!). After that, we'll be heading into hibernation. The rest of June will be spent rehearsing, writing and recording in preparation for our Seabellies mini-tour in July. If you haven't seen these guys yet, you really should because they are quite special indeed. Bird Automatic are also coming along for the ride and it promises to be an excellent time. If you can't wait until the 28th to see us, we're also playing at the Sandringham Hotel on Tuesday May 22nd. It's a nice intimate venue and we'd love for you to come along.

Last but not least, word on the street is that we have a brand new song which we plan on unleashing at Manning. If you heard us play it at Ruby Rabbit, that doesn't count because this time all band members actually know what they're playing. It's yet another reason for you to come along.
